STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
The State Department’s involvement focuses on three key priorities:
Promote financing tools from the United States Government and multilateral institutions based in that country to support urban development projects in the region.
Connecting US companies with emerging urban markets, fostering partnerships and technology transfer with Latin American cities and institutions.
Promote safe digital urban development by strengthening data protection, privacy, and cybersecurity in the digital transformation processes of cities.
Through this collaboration, SCELC consolidates itself as a meeting point for local governments, technology providers, financial institutions and multilateral organizations interested in promoting urban innovation in the Western Hemisphere.
The State Department’s participation helps expand opportunities for cooperation, investment, and knowledge exchange among cities seeking to build more resilient, safe, and prosperous urban futures.
For more than a decade, Smart City Expo LATAM Congress has positioned itself as the most relevant urban innovation event in Latin America, bringing together governments, institutions and companies to share solutions that transform and improve life in cities.
The 2026 edition will take place from June 2 to 4 in Puebla, Mexico, and will bring together thousands of leaders from the global urban ecosystem.
