We share with you some of the initiatives of the Zero Waste campaign that, as PRONUS, we carefully implement in our events to reduce the carbon footprint and, in addition, create a friendlier experience for our attendees.
More efficient mobility, less CO2
To make transfers from the airport to the hotel we collaborate with Flex Shuttle Cab, a tourist transportation company with environmental responsibility. They use hybrid units, which emit 42% less CO2 than a conventional car, guaranteeing a safe, ecological and reliable trip for all passengers.
Additionally, hybrid cars can achieve significantly greater fuel efficiency than conventional vehicles, and they are also quieter, thereby reducing noise pollution.
Accommodation around the corner
We have various hotel agreements around the venue for greater accessibility and comfort of our attendees. In this way, they can invest time traveling to get to the venue without the need to use another means of transportation, which translates into reducing CO2 emissions.
Long life in our materials
The planning is careful, and for the assembly of our stands we promote the circular economy; We use sustainable structures designed for reuse, which are made with more durable and resistant materials, which prolongs their useful life and reduces the need for frequent replacement.
Second life to our green spaces
We use green spaces, since the presence of plants helps improve mood, reduce anxiety and increase the feeling of general well-being. In this way, we generate a more pleasant atmosphere for everyone. To achieve this, the plants we use will be used in future events, preventing them from becoming waste and thus contributing to the reduction of waste in landfills.
Celebrating our gastronomy
We believe in the importance of supporting the local economy , so for our catering service we collaborate with Teya, Gastronomía Yucateca Viva, who use fresh ingredients from the region and provide an authentic experience of the city’s exquisite gastronomy. Additionally, food is not served in disposable containers, which reduces waste consumption.
Responsible awards
To prepare the recognitions that we deliver during the LATAM Smart City Awards, we use previously treated wood certified by the Forest Identification Code (FSC). A forestry process that ensures that resources comply with aspects such as the conservation of biodiversity, the protection of the rights of workers and local communities, the responsible management of water resources and the prohibition of the use of pesticides and dangerous chemicals.
Less waste, more technology
We have a user-friendly mobile application, in which they can find valuable information about the event, such as session times, speaker information, and even network by interacting with notable attendees during the congress. This translates into paper reduction and makes it easier to obtain information more efficiently and in real time.
At the same time, we encourage the use of QR codes and reduce printed materials, such as canvas and vinyl, generating less waste and providing a better experience for our attendees.
