iWater is an event organized every two years by Fira Barcelona with the Water Economy Forum. It has become the national and international meeting point for all key water cycle agents.
This event turns the whole city into the international center for debate and action to face the largest challenge currently encountered –preservation and access to water in those zones affected by hydric stress. Such an event has an integral vision of
the water cycle in its whole, from beginning to end.

During the activities some key issues highlighted such as sanitation and supply in non-urban areas; the approach of strategies that guarantee water security in the region and resilience to climate change; as well as the application
of new technologies for better water management.
Latin American cities and lands need to be transformed into a model which allows them to be more sustainable, being water a precious resource to acheive this.
Thus, the Smart City Expo LATAM Congress is linked to iWater to create a space for debate and action towards the great challenges arising from care and distribution of water.
This project is an initiative backed by the University of Alcalá (UAH), whose objective is to promote an independent space for reflection and dialogue on the water cycle, from its management point of view towards the solution of the problems faced by
this sector, being these a matter of the utmost priority and relevance, not just in Spain, but worldwide.
